Undertake The Relevant Employee Checks

Employment screening in the UK has become more urgent in recent years.

This is mostly due to the increasing levels of fraudulent CVs which have exploded in number since the start of the 2007 global financial crisis.

The fact is that employers must pay the price of taking on employees who aren't who they say they are. This price may be as extreme as a lawsuit, set in motion by a member of the public who has in some way been injured by the fraudulent employee, to the loss of time and money spent recruiting someone who couldn't do the job.

Through employment screening, employers are protected from future issues and are safe in the knowledge that they know everything they need to about an individual.

A long-distance transportation firm needs to check that a prospective truck driver doesn't have a history of accidents, so they will do a driving licence check. Equally, employers who work with vulnerable individuals like the elderly and children will use CRB checks to be certain that anyone they employ has a clear history, and is able to be trusted.

Employment screening in the UK includes checking employment references, educational qualifications, identity, credit history and criminal records. Businesses need to verify an individual's identity and address to ensure they are able to work in the UK, and employment screening can also help fill in worrying gaps in a CV. By making sure the person you are looking to employ has a clean record and is trustworthy and dependant, you are also investing in the long-term health of your company and its operations.
