No Place To Hide

Telling the occasional fib on a CV has always been a temptation for anyone applying for a job.

A lot of us have probably exaggerated on our interests in an effort to make us look more educated or interesting than we actually are. For example, writing that we like spending a lot of time in the pub drinking with our friends, doesn’t sound particularly good to a potential employer, we’re much better off bending the truth to say something like we enjoy wine tasting with fellow enthusiasts. This exaggerating of the truth doesn’t really cause any problems to the employer but does help to make the candidate appear a little more refined.

Unfortunately, some people take these things too far. People frequently choose to omit things from their CV which they really should not. In the past, people may have been able to get away with this as there weren’t many ways in which potential employers could track the background of a candidate. Thankfully, this is no longer the case. Criminal records checks, background checks and qualification checks available from PeopleChecking are perfect ways to reveal a potential candidates true background.

With such thorough checks now available, people who were planning to exclude facts from their CV really need to think twice. Any employer who is really serious about employing quality staff will already have procedures for carrying out certain checks to ensure that they only employ staff with an impeccable background. Any falsehoods or omitted information on CVs will quickly be discovered and the applicants will be removed from the employment process.
