Hard Facts

A good reference is probably the most important bit of information for both employers and potential applicants. A reference is a true understanding of an applicant's character.

It comes directly from a previous employer, so it should be an accurate assessment of a candidate's abilities.

References are often more important than a curriculum vitae as they are something which can not be altered or affected by the applicant. A curriculum vitae or CV, can easily be altered to try and make an applicant appear more qualified or experienced than they claim to be. If an applicant thinks they can secure a better paid position just by exaggerating the truth on their CV, then the chances are that a few people will have a go and hope they get away with it. This can eventually lead to problems for an employer as they may employ someone who is nor truly suitable for the job.

Reference checks such as those available from PeopleChecking, are a great tool for employers as it helps to verify that a reference is true and honest. Even though a reference comes directly from a previous manager and should be a more honest reflection than other documentation, it is easy for applicants to try and use someone besides their manager as a referee. Our reference checks will verify that a reference comes from a proper source and is accurate as possible. For an employer, a check like this could prove invaluable in saving time, money and ensuring that the right candidate is hired.
