Employment screening is not just for large businesses

You will no doubt have heard about employment screening services. Such provisions are a great way for firms to protect themselves from dishonest jobseekers intent on getting work even if it means lying in the process.

However, if you are a small organisation, you might not have considered such assistance. After all, surely it is only large companies that can afford to use these provisions and because of their high staff turnover, they will enjoy more benefits.

Well, this is simply not true. It is fair to say that large enterprises do get a significant boost when they use right to work checks, qualification checks and other such things. But the advantages of employment screening extend to small companies too and they are by no means unaffordable.

After all, when a firm with four workers takes on a fifth, this new individual will comprise 20 per cent of the total workforce, making their presence extremely important.

It is therefore vital that this person can be trusted to function honestly and competently. If they have lied about their background and are unable to fulfil their responsibilities, they could have a seriously damaging impact.

Also, if you run a small enterprise, it is vital you can trust all the members of your team implicitly. You might need to give them access to important data and equipment, and your security procedures are likely to be much more relaxed and informal than many larger organisations.

It is therefore crucial that you do not overlook employment screening and assume it is something unsuitable for your firm.
