Possibly the previous ruling party had lost touch with the voters, maybe they'd invoked new policies that voters didn't agree with or maybe the public have just decided that someone else may do a better job. What ever the reason, ruling parties do change and this often brings a change in policy.
One thing that has changed with the new recent government in the United Kingdom, is the policy of spending on benefits. The new coalition government is keen to reduce spending on certain benefits. These benefits may have appealed to asylum seekers who were looking to come to the UK for a better life. With asylum seekers comes the need for passport checking. Everyone who enters the UK must undergo a passport check of some description. If the number of people entering the UK does fall then government spending on this should also fall, which will only be of benefit to the general public.
Although fewer asylum seekers may reduce the need for passport checks, one area where passport checking is a must is for employers. Employers looking to employ anyone from abroad must carry out passport checks, such as those available from us at PeopleChecking. These checks are the only way to ensure that someone is eligible to work in the UK, and therefore removes any risk for the employer to be prosecuted for employing illegal workers.
